Grade 5

My name is Nermin Bolat and I have been on my final teaching placement at Sirius College, Dallas campus. This placement has been full of great opportunities. I worked with the year 5's, particularly 5C and 5D. During this time, in Maths we learned about 3D shapes and volume and capacity. In Science, we learned about the structural features of a plant, investigated how plants and water interact and animal adaptations. The year 5's have been introduced to coding algorithms and have been exploring how to make a digital game. I would like to thank my mentor, Saide Guncaldi, who made my experience complete through sharing her knowledge, skills, experience and time throughout my placement. It has been a pleasure to be included as part of great team at Dallas campus. This teaching placement has been a huge period of professional and personal growth.

Literacy Hub

At Sirius college, we have been celebrating Literacy week. The following events took place:

Monday 19th August-Wear Red To Be Well Read Day

Students and staff came dressed in red and donated a gold coin.

Thursday 22nd of August.

Tuesday 27th August- Fancy Hat/Wig Day Parade

Students came with a creative hat/wig to show off during the parade. The Parade was held from around 9:00 am until 9:30 am. All participants received a certificate.

Tuesday 27th till Friday 30th-Book Fair

Book Fair week is held in the library. Students can purchase books during recess, lunch and after school until 4:30pm.

SIRIUS COLLEGE JUMP OFF DAY - 2019

Thank you to ALL the students who got involved with Jump Rope for Heart!

A huge thank you for the effort skipping and fundraising for the Jump Rope for Heart program this term. Together we raised an incredible $878.46 and this money will all go towards vital heart research and education programs. Special mention and congratulations goes out to Taylan Zengin from grade 1B and Elanur Azman from grade 4A, who raised $266.04 and $175.65.

We’ve loved seeing so many smiling faces skipping on the playground and in sports lessons. Our Jump Off Day was a huge success, you can see a few action photos from the day below.
